Thailand Surpasses 30 Million Tourist Arrivals in 2025

BANGKOK – Thailand has welcomed over 30.2 million international visitors in 2025, crossing a major tourism milestone, according to data released by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports. As of December 7, the country recorded 30,273,872 foreign tourist arrivals, generating more than 1.4 trillion baht in revenue. Despite the strong performance, the total remains 7.19% below figures from the same period in 2024.

Permanent Secretary Natthriya Thaweevong confirmed the statistics, highlighting the significant economic contribution from tourist spending amid ongoing market fluctuations. The top five source markets for the year were Malaysia and China, each exceeding 4 million arrivals, followed by India with 2,280,823 visitors, and Russia and South Korea with 1,685,931 and 1,438,827 arrivals, respectively.

Short-haul travel provided a notable boost in early December, with arrivals increasing 8.10% week-on-week to reach 669,991 visitors between December 1 and 7. The daily average stood at 95,713 arrivals, supported by holiday travel and improving regional conditions. Malaysia led the surge with a 27.74% weekly increase, rebounding after flood-related disruptions in southern Thailand had previously hampered cross-border movement.

While year-to-date arrivals show a slight decline compared to 2024, Thailand’s tourism base remains regionally diverse. Analysts suggest that steady revenue and resilient short-haul demand could help sustain sector performance into early 2026. December is traditionally a peak travel period, and the ministry anticipates further gains through the remainder of the year, supported by holiday travel and enhanced regional connectivity. The full-year outcome will depend on continued strength across key Asian markets.
